Profile:
Larissa Heinrich received her Master’s degree in Chinese Literature from Harvard University in 1995, and the Ph.D. in Chinese Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2002. Previously she taught at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia; as a visitor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; and at Reed College, in Portland, Oregon. Her research interests include literary and cultural figurings of science and medicine; cultural notions of authenticity, copyright, replication, and reproduction; the use of visual culture in literary studies; science fiction and utopian imaginings; and global queer cultures. Her book, forthcoming from Duke University Press in 2007, is entitled The Afterlife of Images: Translating the Pathological Body Between China and the West.
