Chinese Language

The list below are Chinese language acquisition courses offered at UC San Diego by the Chinese Studies Program. All students must participate in a Chinese Language Placement Interview and need to be approved by an instructor prior to enrolling in any CHIN course. CHIN courses are designed to for students to learn how to speak, read and write Mandarin Chinese. If Chinese is a student's first language he or she will not benefit from the Chinese courses offered by the Chinese language program. These CHIN courses are not for native or near native speakers of Chinese, but other options are available for those students. Please visit HSS 1009 and speak with the advisor for guidance and/or authorization to enroll in a CHIN course. To learn more about taking a CHIN course, click here.
